African Grandmothers

Join Judy Johnson, a member of the Abbotsford Gogos, one of the more than 240 groups of grandmothers across Canada who work in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. This year the Foundation is taking a group of 22 Canadian grandmothers on a tour of projects in Africa, in the spring of 2014. She visited projects in Ethiopia, Rwanda and South Africa. The Stephen Lewis Foundation funds local organizations who are working to care for those affected by the AIDS pandemic in Africa. Their efforts through the SLF help provide “dignity in the present” (as Africans deal with the inevitable AIDS related death and dying) and “hope for the future” (through the funding of the basics: food, shelter, health care, education) for children and the community level grassroots projects that allow Africans to solve their own problems.
